"Erich Kratzer, 73, of Dalton, went home to be with YahWeh after an eight-year journey with Alzheimer’s disease. He passed away at home on Feb. 23, 2018, with his family by his side.
Erich was born June 15, 1944, to the late George and Sally (Hershberger) Kratzer. He married Lauri (Amstutz) Kratzer on April 24, 1970. He lived his whole life in the Kidron/Dalton area and was an active member at Kidron Mennonite Church.
He worked at Schantz Organ Company for nine years. He then started his own business in woodworking as "Kratzer Cabinet" and eventually opened Kratzer Furniture, a retail store with Amish Crafted Furniture. He enjoyed working with the Amish community and running his businesses alongside his wife Lauri for 35 years."
Karen Timney, age 77, of Cincinnati, formerly of Orrville, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness on November 12, 2023. Karen was born November 27, 1945 in Massillon, Ohio to Carl and Alice (Leggett) Boals. She graduated from Fairless High School in 1963. After high school, she raised 3 wonderful children. An incredible salesperson, she sold ice cream, carpeting, furniture (along side Jake Miller for 9 years at Kratzer Furniture now Jake's Amish) and would cheerfully make you a Subway sandwich. She retired in 2013 and moved to Cincinnati to care for her grandchildren. Karen was deeply faithful and was a member of Hartzell United Methodist Church. Her greatest enjoyment in life was helping others. She took pride in volunteering at the church and at her grandchildren's school. She loved spending time with her family, shopping, reading, and was well known for her incredible baking skills. She also especially looked forward to the annual garage sale days in her hometown of Navarre each year. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Dan of Cincinnati, son David (Anna) Beazel of Medina, daughter Melissa (Rich) Lattire of Cincinnati, daughter Kelly Timney of Millersburg, two grandchildren Nora and Levi Lattire, and many nieces and nephews. Karen is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gene Boals of Dalton. She will be greatly missed.
One Sunday morning as Jake and Michaele were sitting in church at Oasis Tabernacle in Sugar Creek OH, their pastor Wayne Weaver at the time, whom thy had come to love and respect for many years stood up and said "Congress just passed a new law.
Anybody using the name of Jesus any longer will be subject to arrest and imprisonment, your personal property can be confiscated, you can be hunted across state lines. If convicted, you could even be subject to capital punishment.
Congress had agreed that we as a nation will pronounce the name of the Almighty Son of The Creator as "Zuse" instead of Jesus.
We can still pray to the same Almighty Creator, The One that was born of the Virgin Mary, Who asked her and Joseph His step father, Don't you know I must be about My Father's business? at 12 years of age.
Yes, The One Who turned the water into wine, fed thousands with just a few loaves and fishes, made the blind to see, the lame to walk, preached the most comprehensive sermon of salvation to thousands while seated on a mountain overlooking the sea of Galilee.
Yes, The One Who kept every Law of The Almighty Creator so perfectly, that the best of the best could not stand Him, but crucified and killed Him, was buried, but raised to life again the third day by the power of The Almighty according to the scriptures.
All congress is doing is simply changing how we pronounce His name in American English. It's not a different deity that we're praying to, they are simply changing the way we pronounce His name in American English.
If you comply with this new law you'll have no problems, your life will be uninterrupted and you will continue to do business as usual.
As your pastor" he continued "I need to know; how many of you are willing to comply with this new law? Please show by raising your hand." Nobody raised their hands but looked rather perplexed and suspect.
Pastor Wayne continued his inquiry... "How many of you will continue to pray in the name of Jesus?" Most everybody's hands went up. Nobody would be a coward or betray our Savior while sitting in church with all our peers.
We were all ready to lose everything or even die for that most sacred name by which we were saved and had experienced so many first hand marvelous miracles in our lives!
Then pastor Wayne said "The truth of the matter is, this is what happened 500 years ago, the new name then was Jesus, the original Hebrew name is Yahshua."
That day I repented of any dislike I had for the true Hebrew name of Yahshua my Savior. I had first learned of His Hebrew Name, sixteen years earlier upon being introduced to my father-in-law.
After we were married I had asked my wife Michaele to avoid making an issue of using His Hebrew names in songs or in public services.
But that day I asked Michaele to forgive me for keeping her from expressing herself and released her to use the Hebrew Names as freely as she desired. Oh the burden that was lifted from her that day; HalleluYah!
We both look back on that sermon as a miraculous day in which I clearly heard the voice of our loving heavenly Father's instructions.
I chose to embrace the Hebrew identity of my Savior, and within a short period of time I found and purchased a Restoration King James Study Bible.
As I read through it I was convinced that a lot of what I had believed and preached before was erroneous. I began to seek to understand and read the scriptures through a Hebrew Patriarch lens instead of Greek and Amish Mennonite Baptist theology.
As the years have passed, YahWeh has introduced me to more Hebrew loving Brothers that have taught me so much. A customer whom I came to know as Brother Daniel Werstler gave me both the 3rd & 7th Editions of "The Restored Scriptures of the Nation of Yisrael".
I continue to find both very interesting and faith stimulating! That anyone had the influence to remove these Hebrew Faith Building records; I describe as appalling!
Long before Jake came to be...
Elmer and Fannie Miller, Jake’s great-grandparents, moved from Buchanan County, Iowa, to Wayne County, Ohio in the early 1930s. They were Old Order Amish who felt their way of life was being disregarded by the lenient bishops who were allowing the use of tractors and other powered equipment. They had heard the Swartzentrubers in Ohio were not drifting, compromising in their practices. After choosing to join them, they headed east. They transported their possessions by rail, including seventy horses. When Elmer farmed, he farmed in a big way. He purchased a large farm just south of U. S. Route 250 which extended from the Kidron Road to Kohler Road, and then purchased a second farm off the south end of Kohler Road. More often than not Elmer had more than one team of horses working the fields
Before the Amish community built their own parochial schools, usually on a plot of land donated by an Amish farmer, Jake’s dad, Andy Miller, attended the Apple Creek Public School where he put in eight years of formal education. That is where the Gideons gifted a little English New Testament to each student. Andy and his siblings were no exception, they took them home, and gave them to Jake's "Daughty" (grandpa). Elmer Jr. was intrigued by the English Scriptures which he could read and understand, unlike the German Bible he was taught to read by the church. The Millers were shunned because of the influence the Gideon Bible had on their beliefs.
After his conversion, Elmer Jr. could no longer tolerate the way the Swartzentrubers just looked at the floor and grinned sheepishly when questioned about such things as chewing tobacco, smoking, and bed courtship. Jake describes bed courtship, also referred to as bundling, this way. “Before they get married, the unwed couple go into her bedroom, lock the door, and get to know each other, without exploring each other physically. But what can you expect two hot teenagers to do? It's like telling Johnny not to touch those freshly baked cookies on the table as you leave the house." But the Swartzentrubers insisted "it was tradition and they have always done it that way," so if you bring it up, they just sheepishly grin. But Jake’s "Daughty" didn’t appreciate their returning his concerns with nothing but a smirk. Soon after Daughty and Mommie were excommunicated and shunned by the Swartzentrubers.
Elmer Jr., and his wife Delilah decided to move their rather large young family to Williston South Carolina, where Andy
met and married Marilyn Schrock, who eventually moved to Lamar MO where Jake was Born...to be continued...

"Albert Einstein often told me that one of the most important things in his life was music. Whenever he felt that he had come to the end of the road or into a difficult situation in his work he would take refuge in his music and that would usually resolve all his difficulties.
"His favorite composers were Mozart and Haydn. He would be a little hesitant about the more complicated Beethoven, but it was the classical school that appealed to him."

Music & the Memory
In 1982, researchers at the University of North Texas conducted a three-way test. They aimed to teach three groups of postgraduate students a list of vocabulary words. Each group received a pretest identical to the post test and a list of words to study. Group I heard the list of words with a background of Handel's Water Music and were asked to visualize the words. Group 2 heard the same word list and music but was not asked to visualize the words. Group 3 heard only the word list. The results of the study found that Groups 1 and 2 had a significantly improved performance over Group 3. Group 3 had the worst performance. Group I had a very significant advantage over both of the other groups when tested a week later.

The following is the text of George Washington’s October 3, 1789 National Thanksgiving Proclamation;
as printed in The Providence Gazette and Country Journal, on October 17, 1789.
By the President of the United States of America.
A Proclamation.
WHEREAS it is the duty of all
nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be
grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and
whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to
recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and
prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and
signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity
peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and
happiness.”
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next,
to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and
glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is,
or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere
and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this
country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies
and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion
of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which
we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have
been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and
happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the
civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of
acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great
and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and
supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon
our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or
private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and
punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by
constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws,
discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all
sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to
bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge
and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among
them and us; and, generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of
temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the third day of October, in the year
of our Master one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.
G. Washington.

The following is the text of George Washington’s October 3, 1789 National Thanksgiving Proclamation;
as printed in The Providence Gazette and Country Journal, on October 17, 1789.
G. Washington.
